Some of the smaller robots at AIRLab, most of which used for Robogames, mount Arduino Uno or Mega boards. Internet, in particular the cited site, are plenty of tutorials to use such boards. Interesting and clear hints are also provided here.

Specific issues faced at AIRLab are listed here below.

  • When using Arduino Uno to control motors (through a motor shield), you have to power the shield with appropriate power supply, appropriate for the power required by the motors. The Arduino board only supplies 400mA per line.
  • The current provided by the card to the USB bus is 500 mA max. Check the requirements of what you attach to the USB bus. In case, take power from elsewhere, or use a powered bus extender.
