We usually use DC motors, with gearboxes, possibly with encoders on the motor shaft.
Some spare ones are available in the cabinet marked as "motors" in AIRLab-Lambrate.
Some useful information to dimension and understand DC motors can be found here, but consider that Maxon motors anre very good and expensive.
Other motors can be found on the Pololu or Sparkfun sites. It is anyhow better to buy motors from European distributors
