We usually use DC motors, with gearboxes, possibly with encoders on the motor shaft.

Some spare ones are available in the cabinet marked as "motors" in AIRLab-Lambrate.

Some useful information to dimension and understand DC motors can be found here, but consider that Maxon motors anre very good and expensive. You can find a more general tutorial here.

Other motors can be found on the Pololu or Sparkfun sites. It is anyhow better to buy motors from European distributors
